Kauai Hawaii

kauaiEmerald mountains, deep valleys, and jagged cliffs make Waimea Canyon of Kauai a grand sight.  This natural wonder offers majestic views of an extraordinary landscape, so beautiful you cannot fully grasp its majesty.  Also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, it is often compared to its bigger relative (Arizona’s Grand Canyon); however, with such exquisite features, it stands on its own as a popular attraction and unique beauty of Kauai, Hawaii.  Enrooted more than 3,000 feet deep, and covering approximately 14 miles, its tremendous decor offers insight to a land before time.  Red soil and volcanic remains leave footprints of the miraculous events that have caused one of earth’s most spectacular treasures.  The Waimea Canyon is one of the reasons why Kauai is an exotic destination.  Its splendor and adventures are unparalleled, and it is an ideal location to explore life’s luxuries.

kauai-banner

Kauai is the oldest and fourth largest of the Hawaiian Islands in the United States.  Sometimes referred to as the Garden Isle, this is manifested in the vast mountainsides, dense forests, and striking beaches that surround the island.  It is rich with culture and much of the heritage can be seen dotted along the island’s landscape. Painted with coconut palm trees, the popular Coconut Coast showcases different faces of culture from water activities such as mountain tubing to historic attractions like the Sleeping Giant. In Lihue, visit the legendary Alekoko Menehune Fishpond and capture the beauty of the Wailua Falls as the water tumbles 80 feet into the Wailua River. The island’s South Shore also houses McBryde Garden, which was a backdrop in the movie, Jurassic Park; and the Koloa Heritage Trail, which serves as an open history book with presentations of historical landmarks. The island’s immaculate beaches also provide a gateway into a world of oceanic adventures from whale watching and kayaking to canoeing and snorkeling.

Your vacation will not be complete without shopping in the trendy shops, kauai-3boutiques, markets and retail stores.  Fashionistas can get their hands on “made in Hawaii” jewelry, fabrics, produces, and handicrafts; as well as international merchandise.  The shopping districts are also a great way to meet the friendly natives and to indulge in the Hawaiian customs.  At night, you can nestle under the stars and observe the thrilling performances of a Hawaiian luau.  After indulging in delectable Hawaiian delicacies, the hypnotizing beats of live dances and music flow through the cool air.

The culinary temptations of Kauai are extraordinary.  The gastronomy provides a taste of Hawaiian delicacies blended with multicultural influences. Throughout the island aromas from elegantly created foods like seafood, pork teriyaki chicken and beef, mango cilantro, fill the local restaurants. With the backdrops of gorgeous sceneries smooth sounds of live entertainment in the background, the vibes at the restaurants are irresistible.  No matter what foods you may be craving, there is a plethora of cuisines that will delight any pallet.

Kauai experiences a subtropical climate. During the summer (June-October) the weather averages around the high 80s to mid 70s.  In the winter (December-April) the temperatures fluctuate between the high 70s to mid 60s.

Lihue Airport is Kanai’s main gateway to the other Hawaiian Islands and locations around the world.  Renting a car is a convenient way to discover the island’s famous attractions. Shuttles also provide sightseeing journeys to of some of the major sites and there are a variety of tours that travel to various scenic locations and tourist attractions. Get a bird’s eye view of the picturesque landscape by taking a helicopter or plane ride. However, strolling on the beach or through the island’s narrow pathways is a leisurely way to enjoy the weather and overwhelming beauty.

Don’t Allow ‘BUT’ to Stop You..

BUT
Most of us go through life pretending…
That we don’t have any special goals or ambitions or desires..
When deep down inside we do really want more..

We block ourselves, and use these words almost like we’re in a trance..
Like we’re sleepwalking through life.

We find way to cancel our dreams.
A lot of things we want to do, a lot of places that we want to go,
a lot of things we would like to experience and we just stop at ‘BUT..’

‘BUT’ will cause you to hide out behind fear.

‘But’ will cause you to come up with all kinds of excuses that you can
validate your inaction and NOT acting on your dreams.

‘But’ is a Dream Killer.

Most people, do you know what they do?
They go through life quietly and tiptoeing to the early grave.

We’ve been holding back, we have ideas that we don’t act on.
Things we want to do but are afraid to take action on….

Why Does Coastal Travel (DFI) Work? Freedom at it’s Best!

CV.Ocean.Island.BannerI’ve always said the business was simple but why? I’m going to lay out in bullet points what I explained to him and why I believe Coastal Travel is so simple.

1. The product is in huge demand. Who does not want to take a vacation? With the news and perception that the economy is slow who does not want to make some extra money on top of that? But that alone does not make it simple.

2. The presentations, the telling and selling is already done for you. DFI is a marketing and training system established by Coastal Travel Directors for Coastal Travel Directors. IF you are part of the DFI Marketing/Training and Development system then you don’t have to build websites that is already done. Live Conference calls that are live and with real people. Hosted by people who are giving back of their time. Usually 6 Figure Income earners doing the presenting for you and answering questions for you when you are brand new.

3. Advertising and Marketing already figured out. While you can market coastal travel like any other product or service. If you don’t have that type of background you can use the same marketing methods that every other leader is using. 95% of the money I ever earned came utilizing our marketing companies that DFI has set up for us. This is probably one of the biggest reasons for success. The successful directors are building their business just like the newest person. That’s duplication.

4. Support and Training is unbelievable. In Coastal Travel you can believe that almost always your director I don’t care how long they have been around they will be there to help you. It’s genius the way the training pay works. I’d say it definitely ensures that someone is there to help you but, on top of that the DFI Training System is incredible. 18 live support training calls every week were successful directors are volunteering their time to help you build a business and succeed. They are giving back because someone did it for them. OK maybe this is the reason for the business being so simple.

The bottom line is this where else in corporate America does it exist were the most successful people will volunteer hours a week to help guide you and be there to provide feedback for you when ever you need it. If you are like me you maybe wondering what do they get for it? That was my biggest question about 4 years ago as well. The reality is they get absolutely nothing except for a good feeling inside knowing they are helping someone get to where they are.

5. The People, are genuine honest and real. Some of the best people I ever met in my life were in DFI. I’d have to say that DFI makes Coastal Travel what it is. People who care about you from day one. It doesn’t matter that they don’t know you, in the beginning you just know that they are there to help. It’s not till later that you realize behind the scenes on every call there are hundreds of people in the background that are cheering you on and pulling for you. They really do want you to succeed. Over time they start to learn who you are as a person, by your voice over the phone and your personality. How many times have you had someone encourage you to do better over and over. They were never jealous they just wanted to see you succeed!

I guess I’d have to restate the obvious now because of DFI, Coastal Travel is an extremely simple why to work from home. All the hard part of being in your own business is figured out. They have the product, the presentations are figured out for your clients via websites or conference calls, they have the clients already expecting to hear back from you and they have people who are incredibly giving. Over all combined DFI has created the best experience of my life.

Asia’s Most Romantic Resorts

Asia.2Nothing quite says romance like a secluded spot on an exotic island, fringed by powdery white beaches and deep aqua blue waters, or a lush green jungle brimming with biodiversity, complemented by a world-class spa that engages the best of nature. The world’s largest continent, Asia, naturally contains all of the above, sometimes even in the same spot. Listed below is a standout resort from each of Asia’s main countries that offers a chance for a tryst with love and a vibrant mixture of colours, smells and tastes that will leave with you a lasting memory.

If it’s not too late for Valentine’s Day, woo your significant other with a trip to these exclusive all-villa/suite resorts, adding that much-desired extra level of privacy. But really, there is never a bad time to visit resorts, or places, as beautiful as these to rekindle or start a new romantic adventure.

Cambodia: Song Saa Private Island

What I love: This all-inclusive private island means not having to worry about adding up the bill at check-out. The resort ensures that all guests leave their worries behind having already paid and are pampered to the max during their stay.

Cambodia - Song Saa

China: Amanfayun, Hangzhou

What I love: Set in “heaven on Earth” and what Marco Polo once described as
“the greatest city in the world”, this boutique Aman resort restores the spirit of
an old Chinese village in Hangzhou with stone pathways, shaded courtyards and
peaceful abodes, eschewing contemporary and modern luxuries.

China - Amanfayun

India: The Serai Chikmagalur, Karnataka

What I love: This luxurious accommodation in relatively unexplored western India
is topped only by its natural setting, where lush green coffee plantations, India’s first
and arguably finest, freshen the aroma of the area.

India - The Serai

Indonesia: Alila Villas Uluwatu, Bali

What I love: If the stunning view doesn’t capture your attention, then the cabana
that hang over the private terrace by the pool in each villa make for an ideal private dining destination.

indonesia - Alila Villas Uluwatu

Japan: Hoshinoya Kyoto

What I love: Japanese simplicity and elegance, reflected in the architecture and
interiors of this ryokan (Japanese inn), marries a rich variety of colours, particularly
in autumn when the leaves display everything from deep green to pale gold to bright red.

Japan - Hoshinoya Kyoto

Maldives: W Retreat & Spa

What I love: Maldives has long been the romantic retreat of the rich. The W takes
this tropical destination to new heights with its “Whatever, whenever” service holding
true, cutting-edge design and stunning house reef.
Click here to read our review of the W Retreat & Spa, Maldives.

Maldives - W Maldives

Philippines: The Farm at San Benito

What I love: This resort in the Philippines has gained regional and worldwide
recognition for its detox and spa, ideal for not only cleansing the body and mind
of toxins, but for freeing it of any stresses as well. With yoga thrown into the mix,
the resort’s setting, deep amidst a thick thriving jungle, only add to the resort’s appeal.

Philippines - The Farm at San Benito

Sri Lanka: Jetwing Vil Uyana

What I love: In the shadows of a 2,000 year old rock fortress sits a man-made wonder
that has perfected a balance of living between mankind and nature. The man-made wetlands
are host to this unique resort that houses stilted thatched-huts above its green wetlands, with
the region displaying a stunning wealth of biodiversity.

Sri Lanka - Jetwing

Thailand: Trisara, Phuket

What I love: Trisara translates to ‘third garden in heaven’ in the ancient language
of Sanskrit. With the resort perched on a slope, the view appears to reach out towards
heaven, accentuated by the infinity pools disappearing seamlessly into the ocean.

Thailand - Trisara

Vietnam: Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Ninh Van Bay

What I love: The rock plunge pools that accompany the villas are a treat that blend
beautiful design with its surroundings without comprising on either factor, and make
for the perfect dip in the pool, a deux.

Vietnam - Six Senses

10 Essential Elements That Make the Most Luxury Ski Vacation!

You’ll probably have you own ideas of what constitutes the ideal ski break. It could be that a trip to the Alps isn’t complete without your pooch, your favourite pillow, perhaps your own library or maybe a suitcase full of Baked Beans, Sliced bread and Marmite. Leaving your idiosyncrasies to one side, I think it would be hard to disagree with the list I compiled in an idle moment while I waited for the ski shuttle to take me to the nearest ski lift, which brings me nicely to the first essential.

1. Ski-in ski-out, private ski instructor

No clumping around the resort in ski-boots like a man in treacle with stiff legs, a no brainer, strap on your ski’s at the back door and away you go. And on return, a carving turn with a flourish, bringing yourself to a sudden stop and voila! time to put the kettle on. Make sure you have the ability to stop in time as the back door is a pretty solid object and you don’t want to be in casualty with broken bones on your first day. A private ski instructor wouldn’t go amiss either, ensuring you don’t come face to face with the aforementioned back door.

2. Chalet interiors with the wow factor

You’ve waited all year for this moment, raided all the piggy banks to get the best accommodation you could afford and poured over the photos a million times. You want to be able to walk in your chosen chalet and be blown away. Immediately your already elevated spirits are turned up another notch or two as you wander round, open-mouthed, from room to room, getting giddy and nudging each other saying “the photos just don’t do this place justice.” It’s a well-known fact that a well thought out and designed interior with classy furnishings and objects induces a feeling of well-being and contentment. Definitely a case of money well spent.

Chalet Artemis, courtesy of Scott Dunn

3. Open log fire

There’s something primeval about sitting near a log fire, staring into the flames, feeling the warmth, daydreaming. The complete opposite of what you’ve experienced in your days skiing; snow, ice, freezing temperatures. Here you can thaw on the outside
while you allow the  delightful red wine, with hints of summer breeze to do it’s job on the inside.  A must have element for the perfect ski vacation.

4. A terrace with stunning views

We all love the mountains don’t we? They are pretty special places, covered in natures cotton wool, the jagged peaks, the mysterious places high above the valley below where few people ever venture. Magnificent and untouchable and all visible from your wonderful terrace.  At nights the lights twinkle below, the stars twinkle above, the hot tub steams, this is as good as it gets.

Chalet Le Chardon

5. A top chef with great selection of wines from the wine cellar

You booked catered, you sit back the first night and await your first evening meal.  Go on, impress me! And do you know what? He does. Five superb, delicious courses, complete with descriptions and wines to complement from the extensive wine cellar.
An education for the mind and the palette; this gastronome would win Master Chef and he’s yours for the duration.

Luxury ski chalet

6. Spa facilities, gym, swimming pool, massage

You’re definitely pigging out on the top quality nosh, it would be rude not to, after all it’s not often you get Jaime Olivier to yourself for a week. What to do? Easy, wander down to the indoor swimming pool, put in a couple of lengths, have a session on the treadmill, have a look at the weights, then get a beefy masseuse to slap you about for a while, well, you deserve it, you ate way too much last night and the guilt is starting to kick in.

The Lodge

7. Arrive by private jet

Avoid the hoi polloi and hob nob with the elite, no queuing, no waiting, no mad scramble for your luggage on the carousel, that’s if it’s managed to board the same plane as you.  Arrive fresh, in half the time, feeling like a celeb. It could become addictive.

Private jet

8. Internet access

Go on, admit it, you’re joined at the hip to your phone, iPad, laptop, tablet and the social networking sites just couldn’t survive your absence for a whole week. I’m guilty too, I need the internet like a junkie needs a fix. Essential, how else are you going to plaster pictures of your evening meal, ski fun, chalet interior, best mate and the odd selfie on the net in an attempt to induce envy in the folk back home.

9. Grand piano

Would be nice but not essential. Even if you can’t play the damn thing it sure does look good and ups the ante in the, “wow! look what we got” bragging rights department. If you can play, it’s perhaps not often you get to tinkle the keys of a top quality Steinway. Makes chopsticks sound like Lang Lang’s in the house.

10. Chalet entertainment, cinema, private nightclub, private bar, games room

After the fine dining experience earlier in the evening a wander into the home cinema to catch a film is a treat.
There could be a few arguments over what that might be but there are another six nights and anyway he who
holds the remote is “King of the Screen.” The race for the remote could get ugly.

After the film, perform your own Saturday Night Fever, bust some moves and throw some shapes, if you can even
move in an energetic fashion after the skiing, the spell in the gym and the fight with the masseuse.
Mix your own cocktails and make up your own rules regarding ratio’s, one part fruit six parts alcohol, sounds about right.

An argument over the rules of pool, snooker, darts, Snakes & Ladders is always fun and helps to cement
and strengthen bonds with friends and family.

So there you have it, all the elements needed for the perfect ski break. You don’t necessarily have to have
them all and arguably some, you could well do without but a full house keeps everyone occupied and happy.
