The Perfect Schedule

Have you ever driven down the street in an exclusive neighborhood and wondered what the people who live in those houses do for a living? Have you looked at your neighbors and wondered how they could afford a new car or new furniture…or wondered how they could take so many vacations.

  • How do they afford it?
  • Are they smarter than you?
  • Do they work harder?
  • What is their secret?

All of those people are exactly like you! Except for one very important thing: they have learned to Work Smarter Not Harder!

This is the invaluable secret to generating income that changes lives forever. They have leveraged the motivated efforts of others to create a recurring income for themselves!

*Home-based business owners generated over $30 billion in sales in 2005. 80% of them worked less than 30 hours per week! Many of them replaced the income from their full-time jobs and are now free to pursue a lifestyle they never could have imagined. And so can you.

Incredible financial success as a home-based entrepreneur starts with two simple but very important factors:

1. Pick the right product

The largest opportunities are generally in the best established industries. You want a product that everyone needs rather than one in which you need to explain the product and the need. You want a product that is easy to explain and easy to sell. You want a product that provides value to your customer.

2. Pick the right timing

There is a critical element called timing-some refer to it as luck, some refer to it as intuition and others refer to it as smarts. But it all comes down to a matter of timing-the ability to recognize a need and opportunity and to take advantage of that window-a window, by the way, which is open the widest in the early periods.

10 Good Reasons to Work at Home

Beach.Woman
Working from home is incredibly convenient. If you’re ready to start a business, it’s also the place you have already. It’s easy to start your business at home. Of course you need some space and there may be distractions, but there are lots of good reasons for working from home.

Here are ten of them:

1. Cheap — the money you save by not renting an office can be invested instead in technology, marketing and other things that build your business.

2. Commuting — traveling a few feet to the office each day can make a refreshing change after years of catching the 07:30 train. You can work longer hours in shorter days.

3. Convenient — if you are the creative type, or just like to work at odd times,…

…working from home means you can go into the office whenever you want.

4. Childcare — while something of a two-edged sword, working from home makes childcare a lot easier. It’s also easier to fit your work around school sports day!

5. Coffee shops — even those with an office frequently choose to meet clients in a mutually convenient coffee shop. Use coffee shops to meet people. Most also have wireless broadband so you can take your laptop and work between meetings.

6. Crises — life is littered with domestic crises. It can be useful to be at home working during the day, even if it’s only to let the plumber in when he calls to mend a tap.

7. Comfortable — OK, you need to create a work-like environment, but when you’re having a day at the office you can dress down as far as you like.

8. Colleagues — you will undoubtedly have people who work with you either regularly or on a project basis. You can use ‘voice over internet’ packages such as Skype to hold tele-conferences for free. You can also video-conference over the internet.

9. Environment — if you like to listen to music, you can. You can also have the windows open in winter or the heating on in summer. You can create the environment you want.

10. Colds — you know when someone starts sneezing in an open plan office? Soon everyone’s reaching for the tissues. Working from home is healthy too!

Cape Cod’s Luxury Bed and Breakfasts

Coastal Travel Vacations Coastal Freedom at it's BEST

Coastal Travel Vacations
Coastal Freedom at its BEST

If you’re fond of sand dunes and salty air
Quaint little villages here and there
You’re sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod

The singer Patti Page had not yet visited Massachusetts’s seaside haven when she made this ode to the Cape a hit in the 1950s. Today the island’s sand dunes remain high and white and salt still pinches the coastal air. Cape Coders’ reverence for colonial history has protected some of the most charming hamlets from commercial intrusion.

Cape Cod is for all seasons, but late Spring into Autumn are especially resplendent. Depending on your state of mind and your traveling companion, here are three of the Cape’s most gracious B&Bs.

Best for romance

The Inn at Cape Cod (circa 1820), Yarmouth Port

Majestic, classic, refined, the Inn at Cape Cod has a distinct Kensington sensibility, owing to its English innkeepers who meticulously restored to its current grandeur the former home of the wealthy Sears family. The Inn is listed in the National Registrar of Historic Places, but there are a few additions, like a gloriously light-filled breakfast room where an ever-changing four-course breakfast is a culinary delight.

Inn at Cape Cod

The Inn’s elegantly appointed rooms (tailored Georgian furnishings, antique carved beds with luxurious linens) have views of the hamlet’s old stone walls and classic salt-box homes. Legend has it that the four-poster in the Sears Room was shipped from England for a visit by Queen Victoria, who never did arrive. Just across the lawn is the Old Yarmouth Inn (circa 1690), now an award-winning restaurant. Savor a pint or dine under its 17th century hand hewed beams before turning in.

Best for charm

The Captain Kelley House Bed and Breakfast (circa 1835), Centerville

This sprawling Greek Revival built by Sea Captain David Kelley is an architectural stand-out on a historic Main Street lined with antique seafarer’s homes. Inside, simple period pieces and dashes of color have revived The Captain Kelley House into a place of intimacy and warmth. Airy, light-filled bedrooms extend off a narrow, winding staircase. Each room has wallpaper with a nautical theme or cheerful stripes (yellow and white, blue and white). Fresh white linens, embroidered pillows and heritage patchwork quilts dress carved antique beds. The floor-to-ceiling windows of the flagship Captain Kelley Room overlook lush gardens.

Mornings, expect a breakfast performance known as the “Scone Wars” when the inn-keeping couple vie for baking the most spectacular scone. On one visit, gingered Lemon Curd squared off with Summer Berry as the bakers serenaded guests with Broadway tunes and Jamaican Reggae, performed in full regalia. In October, the B&B will hosts its last Downtown Abbey weekend: High Tea, a formal, five course dinner served by “footmen,” and a champagne toast to the Crawley family.

Capt Kelley room

Best for family

High Pointe Inn (contemporary), West Barnstable

For long stays, High Pointe Inn is a favorite among European travelers and families. Casually elegant in an upscale residential neighborhood, the Inn’s homey ambiance invites trekking in sand after a day at the beach or sipping an aperitif as the logs crackle in the living room fireplace. The rooms and en suite bathrooms are modern and spacious. In the Sand Dollar Room an impressive white brick, wood-burning fireplace cozies up the cathedral ceilings. Families favor the self-contained Treetops Garden Suite with its private entrance and living quarters equipped with gas fireplace.

High Pointe deck

From the second story deck, which runs the length of the Inn, there are views of protected marshland that extends to Cape Cod Bay. On a clear day you can glimpse the dunes of Sandy Neck Beach. A pin drop tranquility prevails. At breakfast, arguably the best popovers in New England are served with chunky local jams and steaming coffee poured into pre-warmed cups.

Do We Have a Solid Product?!

Live Your Dreams BannerWorking from home is an awesome experience when you are rewarded with time freedom and financial flexibility.  But the key is you will never get there if you don’t have a solid product.  Notice I didn’t say you need the “BEST” product because the truth is there is no such thing.  But you should market something that you benefit from, believe in and actually own on your own.  I’ll break down more specifics on having the best or a solid product as we go here.  Just follow along this can determine your success or lack off.  This can be the difference in spinning your wheels and struggling to actually reaching your goals or blasting past them and having to set new and better goals.

OK so let’s break it down, first with marketing something you benefit from.  You will do a much better job of marketing and presenting any product if you have actually gotten a benefit from what you market.  Now in my case I market a travel product so therefore I should get some travel benefits from my product.  Even if I don’t use it maybe I’m “disabled” and can’t travel I should be able to transfer part of my package and get the enjoyment of knowing that my product is helping someone else.  That’s still a benefit.

The key is everything about your product does not have to “revolutionize” your life.  Companies out there all over the world act like what they have will change the world forever, and maybe it will.  What I’m telling you is if you have any solid product you can change your family’s life for ever.  If you market nutritional supplements, it is important that you do get a benefit you can see and feel.  Look if your company offers 100 products you don’t need to benefit from all of them.  You just have to have a benefit you can believe it.  Therefore you will be more successful at marketing and profiting while you work from home.

DFI_BannerSecond, your product should actually be something you believe in.  When I say you believe in it, I’m talking more about your passion.  Let’s face it who doesn’t need good health? We would all say yes to that. Not many people are choosing to race to their tombstone anytime soon.  Now that being said even though everyone knows they need good health not every one actively pursues good heath in their diet, exercise and vitamins. Some of them may buy your product if you sold supplements but the fact is if they do not really believe in the benefit of good health and they are not passionate in their every day life they will not market that supplement with passion.  You must believe in your product to the point that you are passionate about the benefits and how it can help someone.

Finally, by this point it should go without saying.  But if you benefit from a product, believe in a product you should own it.  Because if you own it you prove you are a product of the product and you are willing to pay for it.  It’s amazing how many people attempt to market a product they supposedly believe in but they don’t actually own it.  Let me ask you, If you were looking to buy a new reliable car but you learn the owner of the dealership actually owned a cheaper alternative, maybe even one of his competitors how would you feel?  How silly would that be? Why would you buy a car from him/her?  If you sold supplements (easy example) and your clients came to your home, office or met you for coffee and saw you taking Wal-Mart vitamins what would your clients think? Now you maybe that slow poke that doesn’t get it and think, well I would not show them the “cheaper” vitamins.  The point is, you would be a hypocrite and how far will that get you and is that really a product you should market?  Probably not you may do better actually working at Wal-Mart.

So in closing having a solid product is required for any long-term success when you work from home.  So do you get a benefit from your product, do you really believe in your product and do you own it? Are you a product of the product? If this product or service you have is going to be the key to your goals and dreams.  If it’s going to give you the financial flexibility you want, time freedom you need and memories with your friends, family and those you care about., why the heck would you not want a solid product.  Remember, believing you have the best product on the planet is fine.  But no product is the best forever hence this thing call innovation.  So be realistic and strategic and find something you can believe in, benefit from and even own on your own.

March Hero of the Month with DFI Coastal Travel

Live Your Dreams Banner
“I can honestly say I love this company and what they do for their people!” ~ Shawn Sheppeleclip image002 thumb Shawn Scheppele, Hero of the MonthCongratulations to Shawn Scheppele for being chosen as the DFI Hero of the Month!!

Before becoming an independent business owner, Shawn worked in corporate America for Tony Robins. He started at the bottom and was quickly promoted to developing three divisions of the company and increasing on-the-road sales from $68,000 to over $200,000. Despite enjoying his work and excelling in his career, he became dissatisfied with building a successful company for someone else.

With the desire for freedom and control of his time, income, and destiny, Shawn attended First Steps to Success with Dani Johnson, which laid a foundation for him to achieve his dreams. In his first three years with Coastal Travel, he never missed an event, and still regularly plugs into training. While there have been tough times in his business, he never quit, never gave up, and the fruit of his perseverance resulted in $39,000 in just 12 days! One day, he made two platinum sales in a single day, generating profits of $19,410! We call this a “Truck Day” because that is enough cash to buy a truck!

clip image004 thumb Shawn Scheppele, Hero of the Monthclip image006 thumb Shawn Scheppele, Hero of the Month
Without BIG goals, you will never really accomplish anything; and Shawn has a number of goals, both in business as well as in his personal life. His current #1 business goal is a sale a day! A quarter of a million dollars in 2015, a summer dream vacation at Disney World using his Coastal Package, selecting the right college for his son, increased investments in real estate and silver, giving even more to Kings Ransom projects and to his church, and doing some special things for his wife, (Not telling what! Don’t want to spoil it. She may read this.) … these represent just a few of the goals totally within reach for this month’s DFI’s Director of the Month, Shawn Scheppele. With a 10 year track record, Shawn’s consistent work ethic has created a strong foundation for achieving not only these goals but more besides. “The keys to reaching these goals, ie. what’s it going to take to get these done, is, among other things, faith, determination, focus, strategy and that 4 letter word (work)! His vision is to continue to provide people with “a place to succeed,” says Shawn.

Beyond the personal and business goals, Shawn’s ultimate goal is to continue to grow in Christ. He said, “The Lord is why this article is being written, not me. On my knees is how I start and finish each day. PERIOD!” Unlike many successful businessmen, Shawn believes God gave him an assignment to help other people personally, professionally and financially. Striving to create a safe place for success, he offers keys to an opportunity in which he comes alongside his team members, coaching them through a simple process. He follows and teaches a duplicatable presentation system: “It’s all about the presentations – that’s what makes money. The system is to support and encourage and provides strategy. Presentations must be skilled, on purpose, laser focused, and often repeated.” His deepest desire is to “set the captives free” through encouragement and inspiration.

clip image009 thumb Shawn Scheppele, Hero of the Month
“I have a business today, because of what I’ve learned from Dani Johnson. Plain and simple. When people are trained well, they do well. And the company makes sure everyone gets trained by giving them access to Dani Johnson– that’s why so many people have success. I’m grateful the company cares about their people enough for them to get the training they need to be successful. It works!” ~ Shawn Scheppele

On behalf of everyone in DFI, thank you, Shawn, for all that you do and the leader you are in our company and the example you set of how it’s done!!!

You are DFI’S HERO OF THE MONTH!
